Volume 1 - Daylight Savings Time Changes
Onyx Product: OEAS - SQL Versions Affected: 5.0 PROBLEM: Beginning in the spring of 2007, Daylight Saving Time (DST) start and end dates for the United States will start three weeks earlier (2:00 A.M. on the second Sunday in March) and will end one week later (2:00 A.M. on the first Sunday in November) in order to comply with the Energy Policy Act of 2005. Since time zone conversion calculations are performed by the Windows operating system, Microsoft has released an update that will correct the time zone information. For more information, see article 928388 in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928388 ISSUE: SQL Server versions of OEAS store time zone conversion details, including the start and end dates for Daylight Saving Time (DST), in the registry and BaseTimeZone table of the database. RESOLUTION: After applying the Microsoft update to correct the time zone conversion information for Windows, the Onyx Time Zone Configuration Utility must be run when changes to Daylight Saving Time start and end dates are applied.
